The Opportunity

The Senior Solution Architect is a senior role responsible for guiding business analysts and developers to focus on optimizing and implementing our core payments processing systems.

We are seeking for a Senior Solution Architect with deep, hands-on expertise across traditional enterprise infrastructures, modern cloud environments, and secure networking, with main focus on our core processing platform Payments 2.0.

You are responsible for initiatives to maintain and change the complex processing infrastructures needed to run the services of Account Payments across all serviced clients. Special focus will be on end-to-end integration of our payments processing core and the surrounding applications of our clients, to ensure seamless daily payments business for our clients.

This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and detailed analysis to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The Senior Solution Architect collaborates closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, drives continuous improvement, and ensures successful implementation of solutions.

Maintaining both stability of the daily business and driving future optimizations are the key focus areas. The position asks for a professional technical expert, acknowledging the criticality of the business for the customer. Your in-depth knowledge of the European payments processing schemes and the WL Payments 2.0 application framework will be a fundamental basis for this opportunity.

The bandwidth of the needed skillset covers the entire technology stack around the Payments 2.0 framework as well as strong communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, both internal and external to WL.

You will be a key technical leader, translating complex business requirements into robust architectural blueprints.

Who Are We Looking For

• You have a Master’s degree in Business Administration or Information Technology and at least 15 years of work experience
• You have proven experience, demonstrating a track record as a Solution Architect designing complex, large-scale and business critical environments
• You have proven your ability to work in a complex business environment as vital part of the value chain of clients in the financial industry
• You have organizational talent, high own initiative, and high analytical skills
• You can act professionally in a demanding software delivery and production environment
• You have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• You have the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at senior management levels
• Motivation and passion for service excellence and client focus
• You pay attention to detail
• You possess an ethical behaviour

From an subject matter perspective, the following skills are essential:

• Strong proficiency in JAVA, JEE
• Excellent understanding of the complex legacy code of Payments 2.0
• Experience with legacy and modern complex Java applications
• Highly skilled in managing and working within large projects with complex class structure
• Expertise in Oracle relational databases, along with SQL and data modelling
• Collaboration with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Testers to coordinate software delivery
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and Jira or similar tools
• Experience with mentoring business analysts and developers
• Excellent knowledge of the business logic of WL P2.0 systems
• Strong knowledge of SEPA, MX and SWIFT payments processing
