Worldline Merchant Services - the main Business Line of Worldline with €3.3bn revenue in 2023 out of €4.6bn - are establishing a new entity in the UK: to serve our ambitions in this key market for the Group where we see potential for real business growth as a result of changes in the regulatory landscape due to Brexit.

 

Our mission will be to become a market leading provider of acquiring services in the UK, delivering choice, value and new opportunities to merchants of all sizes, from Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) to large merchants (Corporate), as well as pure online players.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join the finance team of our newly created legal entity in the UK.

 

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the oversight and management of all items related to balance sheet substantiation; audit; tax; VAT; maintaining accurate financial records; and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and experience with the audit process.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

 

In this role, you’ll have a direct reporting line to the UK CFO of the regulated entity and have a dotted reporting line to the Group Accounting Director for Nordics & UK.

The position is responsible for the following areas:

 

 

  • Balance sheet substantiation process, including trial balance and balance sheet analysis
  • Ownership of all financial transactions related to the balance sheet such as accruals, provisions, accounts payable/receivable, bank accounts, fixed assets etc.
  • Responsible for the month end; quarterly; and annual closing cycles to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to the Group
  • Ownership of the annual audit process, leading the audit process and ensuring timely filing of financial statements
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of tax, including but not limited to corporation, deferred and PAYE
  • Ensuring timely and accurate submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Management of the monthly and bi-annual cash landing process
  • Instructing and maintaining oversight of the outsourced GFS team
  • Support the UK CFO and Group Finance Leadership in ad-hoc projects and analysis related to financial accounting
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards, financial regulations, and industry practices

 

Who Are We Looking For

  • You have 5+ years’ experience of financial accounting within financial services, and have exposure to the audit process
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Qualified accountant certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CMA) is required
  • Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • You are fluent in English
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience within a scalable business
  • Strong in communication
  • A demonstrated capacity of working in a global matrix organization and the ability to work remotely
  • Willingness to learn and grow in an ever changing environment.
  • Experience of SAP is desirable but not a necessity
