The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Credit Risk Officer to become part of our global credit risk department consisting of several international based teams who have the end-to-end credit risk management responsibility at merchant and portfolio level. In this challenging role you will be at the core of our organization with a high level of exposure, supporting Worldline’s growth and profitability by ensuring sustainable new and existing credit exposures and minimalization of credit losses.
As our new colleague you are responsible for the credit risk management of a merchant portfolio. Performing in-depth financial analysis and assessing the creditworthiness of merchants, conducting credit memos and decision sheets for approval and perform periodic reviews, calculate credit ratings (appeals) and determine risk appetite such credit exposure and limits, terms and conditions and pricing. You are involved in the negotiating process with merchants and can take well balanced decisions or professionally present your recommendation to relevant Risk Committees for decisioning. You will work closely with various stakeholders such as sales, account management, legal and other risk departments and can attend online meetings with merchants.
Our Team
Our credit risk department is part of Merchant Services 1st Line Risk where we manage large and international merchants in the Enterprise Go-To-Market and have a regional focus in the Small & Medium Businesses Go-To-Market, with various (sub-)verticals (e.g. Digital Business, Travel & Hospitality, e-Retail, Strategic Partnerships, Acceptance Entities, Marketplaces, Payment Facilitators, etc). We are tasked with reviewing new and existing merchants, monitoring non-delivery exposure and credit quality on merchant and portfolio level.
The credit risk department is growing and consists over twenty colleagues spread across different offices at international locations. The regular exchange with colleagues and experts from different countries ensures exciting daily work. Within Credit Risk we are globally minded with a FinTech atmosphere. Day-to-day responsibilities
- In-depth financial analysis (P&L, BS and CF) and conducting detailed underwriting/credit assessments documenting the merchant business model and sector dynamics, financial performance with the key indicators, credit risks and mitigants;
- Presenting your credit proposal to divisional and group risk committees;
- Carrying out annual/periodic credit reviews of assigned limits and recommending risk class, changes in limit and collateral setup based on the outcome of the analysis;
- Collaborating closely with business development and advising/supporting them on the boarding process;
- Communicating effectively with merchants at CFO or treasurer level;
- Reviewing legal documents and amendments ensuring compliance with policies and procedures;
- Credit risk signing authority (based on your level of expertise/experience);
- Coaching, developing and guiding team members.
Who Are We Looking For

- Substantial knowledge and a deep understanding of financial statements, credit ratings, financial risk assessments and accounting principles.
- At least 4 years of analytical experience with corporate credit risk assessments.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Full working proficiency in English, any additional professional language skills is considered a plus.
- Preferable a master’s degree in finance, accounting, business economics, or related field.
- Payment or FinTech industry experience would be a big asset.
