The Opportunity
The Accounting Director will lead Accounting governance and Accounting performance for Poland while acting hands-on as Chief Accountant for designated entities, ensuring accurate statutory and group reporting, full tax compliance, strong internal controls, and clean audit outcomes.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
· Lead month-end close in accounting systems, ensuring accruals, reconciliations, intercompany, FX, GL integrity; produce Polish GAAP financials and IFRS group reporting.
· Oversee fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and inventory; coordinate payroll accounting with providers; manage bank reconciliations, payment approvals, and cash management.
· Own accounting performance across Polish entities; define KPIs/SLAs, monitor provider delivery, resolve escalations; maintain documentation, strengthen ICS, remediate control findings.
· Direct audit strategy and execution; manage external and internal auditors to achieve clean outcomes and timely statutory filings across all entities.
· Drive SAP-enabled process standardization and automation; ensure KSeF readiness; lead planning and upskilling; coordinate with Treasury, HR/Payroll, IT, and Group Finance.
· Ensure end-to-end tax compliance and reporting: VAT, CIT-8, WHT, TPR; support transfer pricing; maintain documentation; meet CbCR, GloBE, TSH requirements.
Who Are We Looking For:
We look for big thinkers. People who can drive positive change, step up and show what’s next – people with passion, can-do attitude and a hunger to learn and grow. In practice this means:
· Accredited university degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; robust technical command of Polish GAAP and IFRS reporting frameworks.
· 8–10+ years progressive accounting experience in Poland, delivering statutory close, audits, and tax compliance across VAT, JPK_V7, CIT-8, WHT, TPR.
· End-to-end ownership of month-end close and statutory financial statements, including timely reconciliations, error remediation, and successful external and internal audit management.
· Advanced SAP FI/CO proficiency; strong GL, intercompany, fixed assets, cash and bank controls; drives standardization, documentation, and effective internal control environments.
· Demonstrated leadership of accounting governance: KPIs/SLAs, SSC or vendor management, process improvements, and Internal Control System design, monitoring, and remediation.
· Fluency in Polish and English, with strong stakeholder communication and influence skills within a complex matrixed multinational business environment.
· High integrity and compliance orientation; able to assume Chief Accountant responsibilities under Accounting Act (UoR); right to work in Poland.
· Ability to navigate ambiguity and land change.
· Motivation and passion for people leadership
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management with external/internal providers, auditors, advisors, and business leaders in complex, matrixed environments.
· You master coaching and team development; build accountability and collaboration.
