Job Description
Technical Project Manager

Technical Project Manager

Location: Remote Canada (preference given to candidates based in Victoria, BC or Toronto, ON)

Salary Range: $90,000 - $95,000 CAD

This is Worldline

We are the innovators at the heart of the payments technology industry, shaping how the world pays and gets paid. The solutions our people build today power the growth of millions of businesses tomorrow. From your local coffee shop to unicorn companies and international banks. From San Francisco to Auckland. We are in every corner of the world, in every part of commerce.  And just as we help our customers accelerate their business, we are committed to helping our people accelerate their careers. Together, we shape the evolution of payments.

The opportunity

As a Technical Project Manager you will drive our payment products forward and lead the management of the complete project lifecycle within the technology scope.  In this role, you will work primarily with leading Worldline payments professionals, mostly within technology and product, and senior project management staff.  You will draw from Worldline’s deep expertise in payments technology, business processes and risk management to shape the future of the payments industry.

You will work in an Agile / SCRUM environment with Technology team management focused on project planning and execution – identifying milestones, deliverables, opportunities and risks.  The Technology team includes both software and operations professionals.  The Product team includes end-to-end project managers who work with Technology to assist in managing projects with a broader business scope.  Typical projects last 3-6 months working with teams of 2-6 stakeholders.

While the role is largely internal, there are occasional opportunities to work directly with our largest clients, some of which have technology resources dedicated to their development needs.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Manage projects requiring both internal + 3rd party technical expertise as you develop a solid technical understanding of how Worldline products work and interact.

  • Project Performance KPIs: Monitor and report on key project schedule delivery execution to local and senior management.

  • Organizational Time Management KPIs: Report on percentage of time that technology invests in new and updated consumable projects vs maintenance of existing projects to local and senior management.

  • Engineering KPIs: Report on Engineering JIRA Sprint performance and platform release performance.

  • Produce Statements of Work for proposed major projects requested by key clients.

  • Assist in managing the Technology budget.

Who Are We Looking For

We look for big thinkers. We are looking for people who can drive positive change and support our growth ambition. In practice this means:

  • You have 4+ years of project management experience, including at least 1 year of technical project management experience (preferably short-term projects of less than one year duration).

  • You demonstrate exceptional organizational, planning, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage up to 15 projects of varying complexity and priority in a fast-paced Agile environment.

  • You are a strong team player, project leader, and skilled collaborator who is comfortable providing direction to junior project staff.

  • You will add value to Product and Technology specification development and review.

  • You possess demonstrated effectiveness in consensus building and are comfortable making decisions within your authority / discipline.

  • You are a persistent individual with excellent follow-up skills and the ability to champion issue resolution / escalation.

  • You have excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills to effectively deliver technical project information to a wide range of technical, non-technical, and management professionals.

  • You have a CAPM or comparable Project Management certification. Note: Direct experience could be applied towards this requirement if the applicant’s intent is to achieve the certification within one year of hire.

  • You are comfortable with technology and have experience with Microsoft office applications and Atlassian tools: JIRA and Confluence.

  • You have the ability / desire to think outside the box and be highly creative with a process improvement mindset. You embrace change and have the confidence to question why things are done, and seek opportunities to improve them, rather than just accepting the status quo.

  • You have experience in a global company, understanding and comfortable working non-standard and extended hours, on occasion.

Nice to have (but not deal breakers):

  • Practical usage of AI in a project management capacity

  • Technical experience with a banking environment

  • Payments industry experience

  • SCRUM master certification or desire to achieve this certification

  • Familiarity with MS Project

  • Technical degree or experience

  • Bi-lingual (French in particular)

Please note, Worldline requires that all candidates have legal eligibility to work in and be willing to undergo a background check upon offer/prior to hire.
