The Opportunity
Worldline MeTS Transport & Mobility is one of the most fast paced and forward-looking units of the Worldline group. Reporting directly reporting to CEO, the role is part of the Management Team for Transport & Mobility and has responsibility for one of the delivery groups within the overall business area in a general management capacity.
This role has responsibility for generating new business, delivering on those client promises and providing excellent services achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
It comes with P&L responsibility and requires strong business leadership, commercial acumen, strategic planning and execution.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
This role will have responsibility for two main areas:
- Network Rail – delivery of operational services that support the day to day running on trains, management of industry performance data with a team of data experts and technologists.
- Settlement – a service that facilitates the real-time exchange and reconciliation of financial data related to passenger journeys, ensuring accurate revenue sharing among train operators run by our in house team of experts.
This role will include:
- Business Development including the sale of products and services outside of the UK
- Client and industry influence
- Solution Design, Development and Delivery
- Developing and implementing a growth strategy outside of the UK
- Responsibility for transforming and growing this business activity
- Transition of new applications into operation
- Service Delivery in line with client contracts
- Financial and operational management of all of the above
- Day to day management of the team performance
The key activities of the role include:
- Provide direction and creation of business Strategy focusing on top line growth and profitability.
- Direct internal investment cases for short, medium and long term initiatives that build value to Worldline.
- Operate across the Transport and Mobility Local Business Lines, Global Business Lines and Markets whilst integrating Global Product and Service Line commerciality into strategy and business planning.
- Take ownership for product roadmaps and overall execution of agreed business strategy.
- Ownership of the Business Plan including development, management and monitoring with a focus on external market value growth and internal profit growth.
- Development of commercial terms for Strategic Partnerships to support Product Strategy across Worldline Customers and Worldline Partners where mutually beneficial value gain can be demonstrated and long term growth supported.
- Support development and communication of new business coming in the form of best practice advice, strategic guidance and tactical delivery.
- Understanding and promoting technologies which enable profitability growth through new business models and applying them in the commercial context.
- Fully understand the financial position of the business and wider UK&I unit including Global functions to ensure relevant planning and integration.
- Detailed knowledge of all area plans including responsibility for ensuring activities are managed and communicated in an effective and efficient manner.
- Act as a role model for the organisation, coaching, supporting and mentoring our people.
- Maintaining and building positive relationships with major stakeholders in the industry.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in service/project delivery.
- Key focal point for commercial decisions relating to scope of area.
- Accountable for quality of all client deliverables.
Who Are We Looking For

- Experience of working with GB rail industry customers, business processes and systems
- Experience of management and ownership of P&L's on average between £5-25M
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technology roles
- Minimum of 5 years of experience of service delivery operation and service integration methodology
- Demonstration of implementing corporate best practices
- Experience of working within a multiple stakeholder environment
- Proven track record in successfully delivering large projects & programmes
- Ability to operate at Executive level
- Proven leadership and people management capability to quickly build effective teams capable of operating under demanding circumstances
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Capable of building strong relationships within client facing environments and capable of communicating to all levels including Senior Executive.
- Team Building and Mentoring skills
- Able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills including situations which require negotiation, conflict management and mediation skills
- Extensive, proven capability at successfully managing complex, demanding multi-faceted programmes at any point in the lifecycle
- Knowledge and ability to operate at the detailed level on estimation, planning, project delivery, financial control and reporting
- Proven commercial and financial management skills
- Dedicated to delivering the commercial targets and identifying opportunities to grow the business
- Consistently identifies and pursues opportunities to create added value for both the client and Worldline
- Initiates new business by contributing ideas to strategic decisions about business processes at the customer site
- Committed to building excellent, long-term relationships with customers, based on a full understanding of their needs and dedication to meeting expectations.
- Monitors performance targets and deadlines in addition to quality standards and takes appropriate action if necessary
- Ability to foster high performance in a team environment. Ensuring the team perform at their best and striving to improve in any and every way possible.
