Key Responsibilities
As Legal Counsel (LATAM), you will provide strategic and operational legal support across Worldline's business activities in Latin America, with a particular focus on the payments, fintech, and financial services sectors.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer and merchant agreements, framework agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), outsourcing agreements, intercompany agreements, lease agreements, and other contracts related to payment services, technology solutions, and regulated financial activities.
- Providing day-to-day legal advice and support to internal stakeholders across multiple functions, including Senior Management, Business, Finance, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Audit, and IT.
- Supporting strategic initiatives across the Merchant Services business, growth projects, corporate transactions, partnerships, and M&A activities.
- Advising on legal and regulatory matters related to the payments ecosystem, including relationships with merchants, financial institutions, acquirers, payment schemes, banking partners, suppliers, and fintech service providers.
- Conducting legal research and providing practical guidance regarding Brazilian and Latin American laws, regulations, and industry developments.
- Managing and coordinating interactions with external counsel, auditors, regulatory authorities, and other external stakeholders when required.
- Collaborating closely with legal teams and cross-functional stakeholders across the Worldline Group to ensure consistency in legal approaches and risk management.
- Maintaining and monitoring intra-group litigation reports and consumer claims in Brazil.
- Supporting corporate governance activities, including delegation of authority processes, signatory powers management, and corporate matters across Latin American entities.
- Protecting and defending the interests of Worldline and its legal entities throughout the region while enabling business growth through pragmatic and commercially focused legal solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Law degree and qualification to practice law in Brazil (preferred) or another Latin American jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience gained in an international law firm, financial institution, bank, payment company, or regulated fintech environment.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, corporate matters, and regulatory frameworks applicable to the payments and financial services industries.
- Solid understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and commercial relationships among the various participants in the payments ecosystem.
- Ability to identify legal risks and provide practical, business-oriented solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear and actionable business advice.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-driven mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment.
- Collaborative team player with a high level of autonomy, accountability, and professional integrity.
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is required.
- Spanish proficiency is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in the payments, fintech, banking, or regulated financial services industry is strongly preferred.
