The Opportunity 

 

As DBA optimize you will be focused on optimizing database functions, driving proof of concept initiatives, validating new products and technologies, automating DBA tasks with the possibility of integrating AI, ensuring cost optimization, and keeping abreast of new technology trends. 

The position will cover on-premises databases including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL, as well as cloud database technologies within GCP and AWS platforms. 

 

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities​ 

 

  • Lead proof of concept initiatives to validate new database products and technologies 

  • Develop and implement strategies for automating DBA tasks, potentially leveraging AI for efficiency improvements 

  • Conduct cost optimization assessments at the database level, identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures 

  • Monitor and explore new technologies and trends relevant to database management and optimization 

  • Manage and optimize on-premises database environments including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL 

  • Oversee and optimize cloud database platforms, particularly within GCP and AWS 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of database strategies with business objectives 

  • Ensure the security, availability, and performance of all databases across on-premises and cloud environments 

  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem-solving services to address complex database challenges 

  • Manage the Oracle DB central tooling (OEM, OID) and access Mgt  

  • Develop technical documentation and best practice guidelines to support sustainable database practices

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field 

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and cloud platforms like GCP and AWS 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead proof of concept initiatives and validate new products and technologies 

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, Bash) for automating database security tasks and monitoring 

  • Strong understanding of cost optimization techniques in database management 

  • In-depth knowledge of current technology trends and innovations within the database field 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to database management 

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams 

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms for non-technical stakeholders 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Eager to learn and accept new challenges 

  • Fluent in English
