The Opportunity

We’re looking to hire a payroll accountant in Riga, Latvia! This role involves managing payroll accounting processes - including time tracking, report preparation for the State Revenue Service (VID), and compliance with tax legislation, as well as maintaining records of fixed assets and intangible investments, coordinating with authorities, and ensuring accurate and compliant accounting documentation in accordance with Latvian regulations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities​

• Ensure the payroll calculation process, including time tracking, preparation of reports for the State Revenue Service (VID), statistical reports, and providing information to auditors.
• Monitor changes in payroll tax legislation and accordingly maintain payroll calculation systems.
• Cooperate with the State Revenue Service (VID), and prepare and submit the necessary declarations.
• Maintain records of fixed assets and intangible investments, process acquisitions and disposals, and prepare the required documentation.
• Organize the annual inventory and professionally carry out value adjustments of fixed assets in accounting records.
• Prepare and maintain accounting documentation in accordance with applicable Latvian regulations.

• General education in accounting or equivalent knowledge
• Experience in payroll calculation and fixed asset accounting
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office – primarily Excel; knowledge of accounting software such as Microsoft Navision and SAP would be an advantage)
• Accuracy, sense of responsibility, ability to work independently and in a team, and strong communication skills
• Knowledge of Latvian tax and accounting regulations in the areas of payroll and fixed asset accounting
