The Opportunity
We are seeking a confirmed Linux System Engineer specialized in Red Hat technologies to manage, maintain, and evolve our Linux infrastructure in production environments. You will be responsible for ensuring system reliability, automation, security, and operational excellence.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) systems.
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and security.
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Linux services in production.
  • Automate system administration tasks using Ansible and shell scripting.
  • Manage system upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Handle incidents, root cause analysis, and post-mortems.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and production support.
  • Implement and maintain system hardening and security policies.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Network, Security, and Cloud teams.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation and runbooks.

 

Technical Skills Required

 

  • Linux & System Administration
    • Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
    • Knowledge of systemd (services, timers, custom units).
    • Experience with package management (RPM, YUM/DNF, repositories).
    • Familiarity with storage management (LVM, XFS, ext4).
    • Understanding of the boot process, GRUB2, rescue, and recovery.
    • Log analysis skills (journalctl, /var/log).
  • Automation & Scripting
    • Advanced Bash scripting.
    • Proficient in Ansible (roles, inventories, variables, templates, Vault).
    • Knowledge of Git (version control, collaboration workflows).
  • Networking
    • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing basics.
    • Experience with firewall management (firewalld, nftables).
    • Skills in network troubleshooting (tcpdump, ss, nmcli).
    • Load balancing knowledge (HAProxy).
  • Security
    • SELinux administration and troubleshooting.
    • System hardening (CIS benchmarks, Qualys reporting).
    • PAM configuration.
    • SSH security and access control.
    • Certificate and TLS management.
    • Audit and compliance (auditd, centralized logging).
  • Virtualization & Containers
    • Experience with KVM.
    • Knowledge of container images and Docker.
    • Basic understanding of Kubernetes.
  • Monitoring & Operations
    • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
    • Alerting and capacity planning.
    • Backup and restore strategies.
    • Understanding of Disaster Recovery (DR) concepts.
  • Cloud (Hybrid Environments)
    • RHEL deployment on public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Image and template management.
    • Basic cloud IAM knowledge.
    • Terraform (basic usage or understanding).
  • Hardware
    • Experience with HP & Dell Server Technologies.
    • Knowledge of IDRAC & iLO technologies.
    • Raid Disk Configuration and Boot Process.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Linux System Engineer.
  • Proven production experience on Red Hat systems.
  • ITIL knowledge is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Experience in a DevOps culture.

Soft Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously in Production/Qualification environments.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Fluent in English.
