The Opportunity

For our FS nearshoring center in Prague, the Czech Republic! We are searching for a Data Engineer with an extensive background in database technologies (SQL) to join an international project for cloud migration.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities​

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to process and transform large volumes of data from various sources
• Integrate data from diverse sources, such as databases, APIs, and external systems, into a storage medium
• Implement data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to ensure data quality and integrity
• Design and optimize data models and schemas to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence needs
• Apply data validation and quality checks to identify resolve or report anomalies or inconsistencies in the data
• Apply standards to ensure data privacy, compliance, and security.
• Implement access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques to protect sensitive information
• Monitor and audit data pipelines and processes to identify and mitigate data-related risks
• Ensure data accuracy and provide support for data interpretation and analysis.
• Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in data pipelines and processing workflows
• Improve data retrieval and query performance through indexing, caching, and query optimization techniques
• Monitor and tune database systems to maximize efficiency and reduce latency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure the smooth flow of data across systems
• Communicate effectively with product owners and stakeholders to gather feedback, provide updates, and address data-related issues or challenges
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation with cross-functional teams

Who Are We Looking For

We look for big thinkers. People who can drive positive change, step up, and show what’s next – people with passion, a can-do attitude, and a hunger to learn and grow. In practice, this means:

• 3+ years experience in data engineering (either as a backend developer or DBA or similar)
• Deep knowledge of database technologies (SQL)
• Excellent knowledge of Postgres and/or Google Big Query
• General knowledge of cloud database technologies and operation
• Knowledge of data replication tools, such as Qlik Attunity
• As an advantage, knowledge of NoSQL DB (e.g. MongoDB)
• As an advantage, a professional background in Python development
• Knowledge of Fraud Detection or Card Payment Processing would be a major plus
• Excellent in written and spoken English
