The Opportunity

 

We are seeking an HSM (Hardware Security Module) Administrator to join our Defense team in France. This role is crucial to ensuring the protection of sensitive data and compliance with security standards such as PCI-DSS through robust cryptographic key management. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our HSM infrastructure, leading procedures around key lifecycle management, and supporting the broader cryptographic environment across multiple data centers. You will also serve as Deputy Key Manager to ensure service continuity in case of emergency.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities​

You will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • HSM Management and Maintenance
    • Install, configure, and maintain HSM hardware and software.
    • Monitor HSM systems for performance and availability.
    • Apply firmware and software updates as needed.
  • Cryptographic Key Management
    • Manage the generation, storage, rotation, and destruction of cryptographic keys.
    • Ensure secure key backups and oversee key recovery processes.
  • Compliance and Security
    • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS and internal security standards.
    • Conduct audits and assessments of HSM systems and policies.
    • Enforce security policies related to HSM usage.
  • Procedure and Guideline Development
    • Document and maintain operational procedures related to HSM and key management.
    • Ensure continuous improvement of internal processes.
  • Incident Response and Troubleshooting
    • Investigate incidents involving HSMs and conduct root cause analysis.
    • Work closely with vendors and internal teams for issue resolution.
  • Training and Awareness
    • Provide guidance and training to internal teams.
    • Promote best practices around cryptographic security.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of HSM configurations and activities.
    • Produce reports on system status, performance, and compliance.

You will primarily operate from the Worldline Seclin Data Centers, with occasional interventions at the Paris (Equinix PA3 & Telehouse TH3) and Brussels sites when required.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in IT security, with a strong focus on cryptographic key management and HSM administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSM solutions (e.g., Thales, SafeNet, IBM).
  • Familiarity with PCI-DSS and other security regulations.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Fluent in English and based in France.
