The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Application Engineer with expertise in production support, application troubleshooting, and system maintenance. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring optimal application performance, resolving technical issues, and supporting our mission-critical systems through hands-on support and comprehensive documentation in a 24x7 operational environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues in production environments to ensure minimal downtime.

• Provide technical support for Java-based applications and related systems, ensuring optimal performance.

• Execute SQL queries for data analysis and troubleshooting purposes to identify and resolve issues efficiently.

• Perform basic Unix/Linux system administration tasks to maintain system stability and performance.

• Manage incident tickets through Jira and other ticketing systems, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.

• Collaborate with development teams to resolve complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.

• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation to provide continuous system monitoring and support.

• Document technical procedures and maintain knowledge base to ensure knowledge sharing and process continuity.

• Assist in application deployments and system maintenance activities to support business operations.

• Communicate findings and resolutions clearly to technical teams and management to facilitate continuous improvement.


Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent.

• 2-3 years of proven experience in application support or related technical role.

• Proficiency in SQL for database querying and analysis with hands-on experience.

• Basic Unix/Linux command line knowledge and system administration capabilities.

• Java application support experience with understanding of application architecture.

• Experience with ticketing tools (Jira preferred) for incident management and tracking.

• Willingness to work in 24x7 shift patterns including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and documentation skills with ability to work under pressure.

• Experience with application monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques.

• Knowledge of database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and web services/APIs.

• ITIL foundation knowledge and experience in financial services or payment processing industry preferred.
