Within the UK&I Sales and Business Development team, the Transport Markets Director leads our work in setting out our vision for transport, stakeholder engagement, managing the supporting organisations that underpin that effort and effectively supports the business development and bid teams in gathering intelligence, creating the network of relationships and producing the winning bids that are critical to long term success. The Transport Markets Director, reporting to the UK&I Sales & Business Development Director, works with the business development, product teams, and the marketing and communications team to ensure high quality engagement, communication and relationship development to help in growing the existing customer base and business, developing new opportunities and providing competitive insights.
The Transport Markets Director will have a clear and extensive knowledge of government policy towards transport, the role and responsibilities of regional government and the challenges facing both the rail sector and the public transport sector more generally, as it works towards greater integration.
The Director will have a working knowledge of emerging technologies such as machine learning and AI, and their role in transforming the transport sector going forward, as well as actions from competitors in the transport space and of course portfolio of Worldline’s solutions and services both existing and being developed.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Evolving the Worldline UK&I Transport vision and story, working closely with the CEO of Transport & Mobility, the Product Teams, and the Sales and Marketing organisation, amongst other key stakeholders
- Managing and supporting stakeholder engagement with national and regional government, political stakeholders, government departments, senior industry figures and existing and prospective customers
- Directing, leading and setting objectives for Worldline’s supporting and trade organisations (including Madano, RIA and ITS UK) in aligning with and contributing to the culture of growth in Worldline through the generation of new business
- Developing and managing the stakeholder mapping and consequent communication and ‘message’ planning with stakeholders at all levels
- Working with the business development community and bid teams to support the highest quality bids and tenders, including drafting sections and executive summaries
- Building strong relationships, both individually and in conjunction with the business development team with a range of key stakeholders across the political and industry landscape – influencing decision-making, raising awareness of Worldline’s business and gathering intelligence that will inform our market engagement going forward
- Working effectively across internal teams, building solid working relationships which enable the best combination of skills, abilities, talents and experience are applied to opportunities as they arise or are developed
- Working closely with the marketing and communications team to ensure consistent and relevant messaging and presentation of Worldline’s capabilities and achievements to the market and stakeholder arena
- Represent Worldline when required at events, conferences and in the media
- Maintain a good knowledge of the competitor landscape, product portfolio and trends in the UK&I
- Make it easy to do business with Worldline
Signs of success

- You will be able to take a grandstand view of the present and future market, pulling together and analysing disparate intelligence, and you will be able to interpret that intelligence to identify opportunities and to communicate with the rest of the business development team
Skills we can’t do without:
- You have experience in creating and holding the “trusted advisor” role within large complex business environments and can evidence the results of relationships, for example in business consulting
- You have demonstrable experience of effective communication tailored to influencing and eliciting customer needs and subsequently actioning
- You have clear experience of planning and delivering stakeholder engagement and message delivery plans that demonstrably change perceptions and opinions and break down preconceptions
- You have excellent written and verbal communications skills
Skills we’d like:
- You have experience of working within a complex and matrix organisation and presenting to C-suite stakeholders internally
- You have strong mentoring and development skills for other team members
- Experience of the management of a portfolio of large strategic accounts and working with clients on their challenges, ideally in the transport vertical
- Strong understanding of financial management including management of budgets and, P&Ls, as well as development of costed business cases & return on investments
