The Opportunity

As the Legal Counsel, you will provide guidance, advice, and legal support to multiple Worldline entities across the Netherlands regarding questions arising from all the Dutch-related activities. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Procurement, Compliance, and other internal departments. You will ensure all Dutch legal entities and their activities are compliant with Dutch law.

You will be part of the diverse Dutch Worldline Legal Team, reporting to Head of Legal. We are a dynamic and down-to-earth legal team, operating within an international company and multi-cultural environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities​

• Commercial contracting: Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a comprehensive range of commercial agreements across our payment ecosystem—from NDAs to complex contracts with banks, merchants, partners, and suppliers. You will leverage legal technology and AI-driven contract analysis tools to enhance efficiency and risk identification.
• Legal monitoring: Maintaining a profound understanding of relevant applicable law while monitoring shifts in European and Dutch regulatory frameworks. When regulatory changes impact our operations, you will translate these developments into concrete action plans, implementing necessary adjustments to memoranda, contracts, workflows, and/or internal processes.
• Dispute Resolution: Handling disputes and managing claims and litigation processes. You will build and maintain a rigorous, structured overview of claims using advanced tracking systems, ensuring their status and progress are consistently monitored and accurately documented.
• Legal Scoping: Providing critical legal assessments to determine the necessary scope of input for various business initiatives. You will effectively navigate the challenge of balancing commercial momentum with risk mitigation, utilizing emerging legal AI capabilities to enhance decision-making and ensure that legal resources are applied strategically to high-priority matters.
• Group Coordination: Managing requests for legal support from Worldline Group Legal, serving as a primary point of contact for diverse cross-functional projects.
• Internal Governance: Advising on and drafting internal policies to ensure full alignment with laws and guidelines governing Worldline's activities.

Essential Qualifications:
•    Master's degree in Dutch law with a minimum of 4 years of professional legal experience
•    Fluent in Dutch and English
•    Proven commercial contracting experience 
•    Meticulous legal monitoring - you maintain exceptionally high standards of accuracy and attention to detail in your work
•    Sharp analytical mind with excellent research capabilities and sound legal judgment
•    Ability to thrive in fast-paced, regulated environments without compromising precision
•    Collaborative spirit combined with strong independent decision-making abilities
•    Proactive mindset with a track record of exceeding expectations and driving concrete outcomes

Considered a plus:
•    Prior experience at a big law firm or equivalent roles in fintech, payments, or banking sectors
•    Demonstrated track record in regulated financial environments
•    Corporate law background or related regulatory expertise
