The Opportunity
As the Legal Counsel, you will provide guidance, advice, and legal support to each of the Group’s Business Lines (Merchant Services and Financial Services) on legal questions arising from Dutch-related activities. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Project Management, Executive Leadership, Compliance, and other internal departments to ensure alignment with local and the Group’s legal strategy and with applicable Dutch and European laws and regulations.
You will be part of the Dutch Worldline Legal Team, reporting to Head of Legal. You will be based in the Netherlands and report to the Head of Legal Benelux. You will be Hoofddorp based and part of a dynamic legal team within an international company and multi-cultural environment.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing of a wide range of commercial agreements across our payment ecosystem - from high-value bank partnerships and merchant agreements to supplier and partnership arrangements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of contract law and monitor relevant (regulatory) law and regulation.
- Developing and maintaining cutting-edge contract templates.
- Serving as trusted advisor on Dutch corporate law governance supporting the Corporate Secretary, including drafting corporate resolutions, corporate housekeeping, and ensure compliance with Dutch corporate law and regulations.
- Handle requests for legal support from Worldline Group Legal, e.g. in support of various projects , restructuring and corporate governance.
- Handling disputes and following up of claims and litigations.
- Advise on and draft internal policies and ensure the compliance with laws and guidelines related to Worldline’s activities, including regulated services in the payment industry.
- Apply effective legal risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
- Communicate, manage and negotiate with internal stakeholders as well as external parties.
Who Are We Looking For
We look for big thinkers. People who can act as an ambassador for Worldline Group’s transparent culture, balancing global standards with local context and ensuring decisions and processes are clear and explainable. In practice this means:
- Masters degree in Dutch law with at least 5 years of experience at similar position in fintech, payments, or banking sectors and track record in regulated financial environments are considered a plus.
- Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus.
- Proven commercial contracting experience with excellent negotiation skills.
- Possess solid knowledge and understanding of Dutch corporate law and procedures.
- Sharp analytical mind with excellent research capabilities and sound legal judgement.
- Thrives in fast-paced, regulated environments while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Solution-driven approach with the flexibility to adapt to diverse legal challenges.
- Collaborative spirit combined with independent decision-making abilities.
