The role will focus on transforming operational, external and industry data into actionable intelligence to support earlier identification of emerging financial crime risks, control weaknesses, typology trends and cross-functional risk exposure across the organisation.
The officer will operate in coordination with group and local functions to identify patterns, emerging threats and systemic vulnerabilities impacting the business.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Obtain, consolidate and analyse financial crime data and management information from multiple internal and external sources.
- Conduct thematic analysis relating to AML, sanctions, fraud, insider threat and emerging financial crime typologies.
- Produce intelligence-led reporting, KRIs and executive MI dashboards to support senior management oversight and strategic decision-making.
- Identify emerging financial crime risks, operational vulnerabilities and thematic control weaknesses across entities and functions.
- Conduct trend analysis across transaction monitoring, SAR/STR reporting, sanctions activity, KYC/CDD metrics and remediation activity.
- Support development of intelligence-led FCC reporting frameworks and operational intelligence capability.
- Analyse cross-functional intelligence from FCC, Fraud, Cyber and Investigations teams to identify linked or systemic risks.
- Produce emerging threat assessments, typology briefings and horizon-scanning outputs.
- Support EWRA activities through intelligence analysis, data validation and thematic reporting.
- Support remediation oversight through identification of recurring issues, deteriorating indicators and thematic root-cause analysis.
- Engage with local FCC teams and relevant stakeholders to improve intelligence visibility and reporting consistency across the Group.
- Maintain awareness of emerging criminal methodologies, regulatory developments and geopolitical risk trends impacting the payments sector.
Technical Data & Intelligence Capabilities
- Experience handling and analysing large and complex data sets from multiple operational and intelligence sources.
- Ability to interpret and analyse structured and unstructured financial crime data.
- Experience developing KRIs, KPIs and intelligence-led MI reporting.
- Capability to identify trends, anomalies, outliers and behavioural patterns within operational data.
- Experience using reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL or equivalent BI platforms.
- Ability to support development of intelligence dashboards, heatmaps and thematic reporting outputs.
- Understanding of data quality, data lineage and data governance principles within regulated environments.
- Experience correlating data across multiple systems and functions to identify linked financial crime indicators.
- Ability to translate operational data into strategic intelligence outputs suitable for senior management and governance forums.
- Familiarity with transaction monitoring, case management or intelligence management systems would be advantageous.
- Awareness of emerging AI and data analytics capability within financial crime intelligence environments.
Who Are We Looking For
Experience & Background
Ideal candidates will possess experience within:
- law enforcement;
- Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs);
- AML intelligence functions;
- economic crime investigation;
- fraud intelligence;
- regulatory enforcement;
- financial crime analytics or intelligence environments.
Experience within payments, banking, fintech or international financial services environments would be advantageous.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of:
- AML/CFT frameworks;
- SAR/STR processes and typologies;
- transaction monitoring;
- sanctions and financial crime risk;
- financial crime intelligence methodologies;
- organised crime and fraud typologies;
- intelligence analysis and escalation processes;
- KYC/CDD operational frameworks;
- emerging financial crime threats within payments and digital commerce.
Knowledge of AMLA, FATF and EBA expectations relating to intelligence-led financial crime oversight would be beneficial.
