Android Technical Leader (F/M)

The Opportunity:

At Worldline, our technology addresses persistent challenges of the payment world. We design and operate leading digital payment and transactional solutions that enable sustainable economic growth and reinforce trust and security in our societies.

Axis is the leading in-store acceptance platform across Europe, it manages millions of payments each day. Our solution relies on payment server and terminal installed in our customer premises.
We are launching a program to go from our proprietary OS based terminals software to Android based terminals.

In this context, we are looking for a talented, motivated and ambitious Technical Leader to deliver our next generation payment terminal application.

In this role, you will:

  • build the squad (team) by recruiting internal and external resources.
  • design the software with state-of-the-art pattern to ensure maintainability and evolvability
  • build efficient and reliable software assets using agile practices.
  • work with an internal big partner that will deliver Nexo based payment engine.

Our teams are organized in Squads and Tribes in a context of Agile methodology type SAFE.
The Tech-Lead is responsible for successful delivery of the Android project / key features defined by the Product Owner involving his/her squad.
He/she drives and monitors the technical decisions in his/her squad and leads the teams that run and support the delivery of payment applications on Android.

Also, the Tech-Lead will work closely with the Continuous Delivery lead, the architect and other Tech-Lead of the Axis tribes to establish the necessary linkages in order to deliver on the strategic objectives established at the AXIS organization level.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Be the technical referent accountable for the good application of the state-of-the-art development practices in his/her team and for any technical arbitration.
  • Technical expert of his product.
  • Oversee work done by the Squad
  • Split EPICs in User Story detailed enough to allow Squad to implement them with confidence
  • Responsible for the tracking and monitoring of code quality metrics/KPI (tests, coverage, warnings, code static analysis, code review, coding standards etc...). He/she must ensure that the trend is continuously improving.
  • Support the PO to identify requirements, constraints and dependencies
  • Responsible for application integration and smooth deployment
  • Responsible for (end-to-end) functional quality, smooth integration and deployment of the product deliveries together with own team
  • Drive continuous quality improvement
  • Manage his/her squad (appraisal, objectives) and support them through the changes
  • Ensure that his/her team fills properly their timesheets

  • Create conditions of trust between his/her team, the business and especially with the Product Owner but also with all others AXIS stakeholders
  • Document the technical decisions that will be required to discuss with his/her management
  • Be the main interlocutor between his/her team and other squads, especially during all alignment meetings (synchro., service increment planning)

Skills we can’t do without:

  • Android : Advanced level
  • Java / kotlin: Advanced level
  • Language C / C++ : Medium level
  • Knowledge about payment (Nexo) is a strong plus
  • A good understanding of the Agile Method and the scrum framework (scrum master certification is a plus)
  • Knowledge on Docker, CMake, Git & GitLab-CI is strongly appreciated
  • Knowledge of specific business area around Android 
  • You graduated with a master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in similar activities and technical fields
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in management of a small or medium size software development team (one or several languages such as Java, Kotlin, C, C++)
  • Excellent English language skills (both verbal and written).
  • Due to the high level of interaction between the squat/tribe members, structurally full-time working from home is not possible.
