Role : Android POS Developer (Kotlin & Jetpack Compose Specialist)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Android POS Developer to join our payment engineering team. In this role, you will focus on individual contribution, writing high-quality production code for applications running on hardened Android OS terminals (Ingenico, PAX, Verifone). Working under the direction of the Technical Lead, your primary strength will be top-class proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to deliver smooth, highly responsive user experiences within strict memory and security constraints. While deep payment experience is a plus, you must possess the technical agility to quickly master EMV specifications and financial messaging protocols under the guidance of senior team members.

Key Responsibilities
•
Elite UI/UX Implementation: Own the development of terminal user interfaces using Jetpack Compose. Ensure highly optimised state management, smooth transitions, and minimal recompositions tailored for low-RAM, hardened hardware.
•
High-Quality Coding: Implement business logic, workflows, and application features using clean, maintainable, and modern Kotlin syntax.
•
Design Execution: Take detailed Low-Level Designs (LLD) provided by the Tech Lead and translate them into performant terminal applications.
•
Payment Domain Integration: Utilise OEM SDKs to interface with secure hardware (card readers, printers, scanners). Learn and implement payment protocols (ISO 8583, nexo, ep2, CTAP, ISO 20022) as required by project milestones.

Secure Coding Adherence: Follow strict defensive coding practices (OWASP Mobile Top 10, PCI-DSS) to ensure no sensitive transaction or cardholder data is exposed or logged.

AI-Driven Development: Proactively use AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate feature development, automate robust unit testing, and maintain code documentation.
Required Technical Expertise
•
5+ Years of Professional Android Experience: Strong foundational background in mobile software engineering using modern Android stacks.
•
Top-Class Kotlin & Jetpack Compose: Deep, production-proven mastery of modern reactive UI paradigms, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, and memory management optimization.
•
Hardened Device Awareness: Understanding of resource-constrained development (managing application lifecycles under low-memory overhead).
•
Payment Domain (Good to Have / Fast Learner): Basic familiarity with, or a strong desire to master, EMV L2/L3 specifications, ISO 8583, nexo, or ep2/CTAP messaging.

Tooling: Proficiency with Git, Android Studio profiling tools (for tracing memory leaks), and modern CI/CD pipelines.
Definition of Done (DoD) & Quality Standards
As a core developer in a 7-resource pod, your code deliverables must meet strict quality benchmarks before being reviewed by the Tech Lead:
•
Memory Efficiency: UI components must pass strict RAM utilization checks on physical POS hardware.
•
Test Coverage: Deliver a minimum of 80% unit test coverage for all authored features using JUnit and MockK.
•
Security Compliance: Ensure code passes all static security analysis checks, with mandatory application of ProGuard/R8 rules.
