The opportunity

The Senior Financial Crime Intelligence Officer is responsible for supporting the development and operational delivery of the Group Financial Crime Intelligence (FCI) capability, reporting directly to the Group Head of Financial Crime Intelligence.

The role will bring together financial crime data, management information, external intelligence, and specialist insight to provide a coherent Group view of financial crime risk, control effectiveness, emerging threats, and systemic vulnerabilities.

Working closely with the Group Head of FCI, the role will embed an intelligence-led approach to financial crime oversight, actively identifying emerging risks, deteriorating indicators, control weaknesses, and cross-functional exposures across the organisation.

Day-to-day responsibilities

• Support the delivery of the Group Financial Crime Intelligence strategy, operating model, and capability roadmap.
• Operationalise the Group framework for financial crime intelligence, MI, KRIs, KPIs, and reporting, ensuring outputs are linked to relevant risks, controls, and management decisions.
• Deliver high-quality intelligence assessments and reporting that provide an integrated view of financial crime risk, emerging threats, control weaknesses, and material trends.
• Conduct complex strategic and thematic intelligence reviews across AML, sanctions, fraud, and other relevant financial crime risks.
• Identify and escalate systemic or cross-functional risks that may not be visible through individual processes, entities, or control frameworks.
• Undertake emerging-threat assessments, horizon scanning, typology research, and early-warning intelligence analysis.
• Translate material intelligence findings into clear implications, priorities, recommendations, and remediation action.
• Interrogate and challenge the quality, consistency, and suitability of financial crime data, metrics, and reporting.
• Maintain effective intelligence-sharing and working relationships across Group and local FCC functions and relevant Fraud, Cyber, Investigations, Risk, and Data teams.
• Support financial crime risk assessments, remediation programmes, and strategic change initiatives through intelligence-led insight.
• Promote high analytical standards within the FCI team and support/mentor junior colleagues in the delivery of intelligence outputs.
• Support the Group Head of FCI in preparing briefing materials and representing FCI in relevant governance, data, and financial crime working groups.

Who are we looking for

• 5+ years of experience with financial crime, regulatory, intelligence, investigative, or related risk environments.
• Capacity to deliver complex financial crime, intelligence, investigative, or compliance analysis;
• Ability to interpret complex financial crime data, MI, and intelligence to identify material risks, trends, and control weaknesses;
• Experience working effectively across organisational, entity, or functional boundaries;
• Expertise producing structured, high-quality intelligence reports and presenting complex findings clearly to senior audiences;
• Previous exeperience contributing to the development or enhancement of intelligence frameworks, typologies, monitoring indicators, or reporting standards;
• Ability to engage collaboratively with stakeholders and providing credible, evidence-based challenge;
• Availability supporting and coaching colleagues or junior analysts to maintain high analytical quality.
