The Opportunity
The Application Engineer will own end-to-end responsibility for configuring and supporting payment processing applications, tailoring business configurations and master data to enable flawless transactions. You’ll drive incident resolution, optimize test environments, and collaborate with developers and architects to deliver robust, scalable solutions within SLAs, continuously pushing for performance and reliability improvements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Configure payment processing applications by making changes in the business configuration for our customers, especially for recurring and defined customer requests.
- Support day-to-day payment processing (and/or act as 2nd-line support)
- Configure the agreed master data settings and application configurations in our payment processing systems.
- Analysis, advisory support, and business configuration of test systems.
- Review incidents, propose and/or implement solutions and/or workarounds.
- Investigate faulty payment files and correct within service level agreements, and work closely with developers and architects for structural solutions and improvements
- Responsibility for standard day-to-day tasks. Take on regular early and late shifts (07:00–20:00 CET) as well as occasional on-call (evenings and weekends) - to be discussed after 6-12 months.
Who Are We Looking For

- Advanced degree in business administration or equivalent practical and cognitive abilities gained through experience
- At least 1–2 years of professional experience, preferably in a similar role.
- Strong customer orientation and a structured, solution-oriented and conscientious demeanour
- Self-starter, highly motivated, and proactive
- You enjoy working in a highly complex technical and functional environment and have a good understanding of payment-relevant data formats and interfaces
- Very good English knowledge. German Knowledge is a plus
- Knowledge of payment processes in banks
- Good knowledge of SEPA payments, ideally also international payments
- ITIL certification preferred
- Good knowledge in Unix and to work in the Server side is a plus.
- Good XML READING knowledge.
