The Opportunity : Legal Counsel

If you are a highly skilled and solution-driven Legal Counsel, we invite you to join our team. In this role, you will provide guidance, advice, and legal support to the various Belgian legal entities within the Worldline Group. You will be part of a dynamic legal team operating in an international, multicultural, and regulated environment.

 

Key Responsibilities


As a Legal Counsel, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting, negotiating, and managing all commercial and legal agreements to ensure the legal rights of Worldline companies in Belgium, in compliance with group standards.
  • Providing legal support to Worldline Group Legal on matters such as mergers, corporate governance, and compliance.
  • Managing disputes and overseeing litigations.
  • Offering general and specialized legal advice to colleagues across various departments.
  • Ensuring the availability and updates of standard contractual documents for commercial and technical teams.
  • Managing relationships with external legal counsel.
  • Advising on internal policies and ensuring compliance with laws and guidelines related to business activities.
  • Researching and assessing legal risk factors associated with business operations and decisions.
  • Applying effective legal risk management techniques and proactively advising on potential legal issues.
  • Communicating and negotiating with external parties (regulators, legal counsel, public authorities, etc.) to establish trustworthy relationships.

  • Staying current with developments in relevant legal areas and contributing to enhancing the knowledge base within the company’s legal function.

 

Your Profile

 

  • Master’s degree in law.
  • Fluency in Dutch, English, and French.
  • Relevant experience as a legal counsel in a business environment, with the ability to create defensive and proactive legal strategies.
  • Strong understanding of corporate law and procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to effectively communicate in meetings and conference calls.
  • Strong judgment and the capability to quickly analyze complex situations and information.
  • Proven research skills for case preparation and providing legal advice.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in a high-demanding and regulated environment, demonstrating resilience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Outstanding communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to getting the job done.
  • Proactive, flexible, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Organized and methodical, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Practical knowledge of data protection law.
