Job Description

Database Management team is part of Business Infrastructures department within Delivery Center Merchants and Acquiring Services, a Worldline Production Services division. It has the mission to design, to implement, to operate and to maintain database platforms supporting high-critical electronic payment business in a secure, fast and cost efficient environments.

In the scope of the growing database platforms, we are currently looking for a Database Administrator with strong skills in deployment automation in DevOps Cloud environment and willing to develop skills in other Database engines such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB, …).

Responsibilities and Duties:

As Database administrator you will be in charge of:

  • Installing, patching, upgrading and maintaining Oracle databases and possibly PostgreSQL and MySQL Databases;
  • Implementing High availability with Oracle RAC, Disaster Recovery with Oracle Goldengate, Oracle Data Guard and PostgreSQL/MySQL Master/Slave Replication;
  • Facilitating and actively participating in all phases of a project development life cycle, including requirements gathering and analysis, solution design and development, testing and implementation, post-production support (including performance tuning) and evolution;
  • Helping customer on benchmark to identify bottlenecks, and provide guidance on tuning and optimization of the Databases;
  • writing accurate and concise technical documentation
  • Developing automation and processes to enable business teams to deploy, manage and monitor their applications in the cloud (IaaS) and in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) environment;


Required skills:

  • Ability to work and communicate in an international and multi-cultural environment;
  • Strong interest in supporting and maintaining complex, mission-critical and highly secure databases;
  • Strong experience in integrating applications to the cloud (Infrastructure as a Service / Infrastructure as Code environments);
  • Basic experience working with automatic provisioning and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform in a GitLab DevOps platform.
  • Experience working with high availability, high performance, multi-data center systems;
  • Master at least one scripting language ;
  • Experience with Git version control system ;
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle RAC Database (12c/19c) and data replication solutions coupled with a minimum of 5 years of production support experience;
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle SQL language;
  • Basic knowledge of shell scripting on Unix-like operating systems
  • Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities;
  • High degree of initiative, accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail;
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude under stressful circumstances;
  • Professional approach when dealing with internal and external customers, including clear and concise written and verbal communication skills;
  • Fluent in English


Desirable skills:

  • Team spirit;
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a complex global organization;
  • High aptitude for learning and high degree of self-motivation;
  • Basic knowledge of model-driven solutions for configuration management (e.g.: puppet, Ansible, …) and configuration orchestration (Terraform) ;
  • Ability to automate procedures and solutions;
  • Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL and willing to acquire expertise on the two database engines;
  • Eager to learn and accept new challenges;
  • French or Dutch language skill is a plus.


  • Sometimes work outside office hours (incl. weekends) for planned interventions
  • Participation in the weekly-rotating 24x7 on-call DBA service (performed by a team consisting of minimum 4 DBAs, includes extra monetary compensation)
  • Working hours are determined after consultation with the line manager.
