The opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Athens .This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a global leader in payment services while gaining valuable experience in international financial operations.. You will also work in close collaboration with the local CFO and Controllers.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Ensure all the accounting-related transactions for the entity flow smoothly;
• Lead in identifying, developing and implementing effective internal control mechanisms and drive consistent improvements in accounting processes and routines;
• Ultimate owner of the Balance Sheet: responsible for accuracy, completeness and timeliness of all accounting postings including tax, pension and payroll;
• Oversee the monthly closings and timely upload for group consolidation, in line with IFRS regulation and group accounting policies. Conduct monthly review of Balance Sheet positions and sign off all reconciliations
• Participate in the preparation of reports regarding internal and external audits to ensure accurate information in annual statements is correctly projected. Be the main point of contact to local auditors;
• Prepare the annual statutory accounts and any other statutory or statistical reporting in strict adherence to local accounting standards and filing deadlines;
• Supervise the nearshore center resources in Romania who are in charge of processing the transactional accounting activities;
• Ensure financial accounting issues and inquiries from internal and external customers are addressed to satisfactory service levels;

• As a successful Senior Financial Accountant for your scope, you enable smooth and robust financial closing process, in full compliance with local and group accounting standards.
• Accounting positions and financial statements are fully substantiated and accepted by the external auditors
• Stakeholders at all levels within the group benefit from your ability to guide to the best accounting treatment in line with financial strategy
• Auditors and senior management recognize your authority as local norms referent

Skills we can't do without:

• You've got a deep understanding of local and IFRS accounting standards. Ideally, you are a Certified Accountant
• Motivation and passion for making a difference within hectic business deadlines
• Working in a multinational organization >5 years of work experience in similar position
• Great conceptual thinker with a sense of autonomy. Proactive with ability to demonstrate initiative
• Highly numerate and analytical with strong attention to detail
• Good communicator:
• You carefully listen to explanations of various stakeholders, summarize and continue to ask questions until you understand the real problem and interests behind a position
• You understand diverging interests and positions of various stakeholders and propose integrated win-win solutions
• You can clearly explain complex matters to non-finance audience
• You are able to communicate and interact in matrix / multi-country environment
• Must be proficient SAP FI-CO module user
• Excel expert user
