Summary:
The Sr. QA Engineer is responsible for validation of embedded applications for POS terminals and other payment solutions.  Solution Design and Test Planning Working within an Agile development team(s), the Sr. QA Engineer is responsible for developing and continually refining the test strategy, plans, processes and standards, covering functional and non‐functional testing, both manual and automated. Sr. QA Engineer will need to groom, manage and lead offshore and onsite team members and guide them to provide successful deliverables. Should be able to work on projects with high complexity and be the subject matter expert of the system. From time to time these responsibilities may vary and additional responsibilities may be added.

 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
 

  • Document and implement test strategies, plans, processes and standards
  • Review the architecture and designs of systems and features, and actively engage with Business Analysts and Developers to ensure the soundness of proposed solutions
  • Review and revise acceptance criteria to guarantee they are fit for purpose once fulfilled
  • Create and maintain configuration notes for the testing environments, both functional and non‐functional (e.g. performance testing) environments.
  • The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for planning, overseeing and performing functional testing, this will include:
    • Reviewing acceptance criteria (i.e. behaviors) for accuracy, clarity and completeness
    • Extending and maintaining the regression test suite, which doubles as the system (Behavior) specification
    • Performing manual tests, recording the results and raising defects
    • Executing automated smoke/regression tests suites
    • Performing and coordinating exploratory testing
    • Performing installations, upgrades and system configuration testing, including confirming the accuracy of installation documentation and release notes
    • Profiling the production software environment(s) and performing security and performance testing


Defect Management:

The Sr. QA Engineer will define and maintain the defect management lifecycle, using a collaborative defect tracking tool (e.g. JIRA). On a day‐to‐day basis the Sr. QA Engineer will identify, report and prioritize defects, working with the Business Analysts/QA Lead, and coordinate with Developers to locate and assist in identifying and resolving software defects.

Leadership and Mentoring:

It is the Sr. QA Engineer responsibility to work with other members of the Development to understand the scope of testing.  Team to ensure that the initiatives being delivered by are of a high standard in terms of fit for purpose, application design and quality. In fulfilling this responsibility, the Sr. QA Engineer will work with the Development Manager to foster the appropriate culture and values within the Development Team. Sr. QA Engineer will be responsible to provide guidance to team of QA members onsite and offshore on specific projects.

Process Improvements:

The Sr. QA Engineer is expected to provide suggestion, if required, to the QA Manager on how processes and procedures may be improved to promote excellence in quality assurance and control. The Sr. QA Engineer is expected to build, share and retain critical in‐depth knowledge of the systems developed and maintained.

Competency/Skill Requirements: (List competency/skill Requirements required for the role)

 

  • Point of Sale (Retail/Banking) Industry experience is a definitive a plus for this position
  • Having knowledge on EMV, PCI and Acquirer host certification will get preference.
  • Experience in creating test frameworks and strategy, choosing automated testing tools and creating testing standards.  
  • Hands‐on testing experience within a whole range of functional testing including UAT, acceptance and system testing, both manual and automated testing
  • Basic MS Office skills, Defect tracking system, Test suites and automation language.

Education Qualifications / Experience Minimum Requirements:

  • IT related Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of training and experience
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience working as part of a QA/Development team
  • Minimum 3 years as a Senior Quality Analyst/Engineer

 

Work Environment:

Remote, will be expected to travel to the office for occasional special group meetings assigned by manager.

Travel:
Less than 10% travel is expected for this position.
