The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Pre-Sales Engineer to join our European Business Strategy organization and drive technical sales success. You will work directly with our sales team and prospects to demonstrate our solutions, address technical requirements, and design customized implementations that meet specific customer needs.

As a Pre-Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for translating functional and technical capabilities into clear business value propositions. You will lead product discovery sessions, deliver compelling product demonstrations, and serve as the trusted technical and functional advisor throughout the sales process. This role requires both deep functional expertise and strong communication skills to effectively engage with technical and business stakeholders.

You will collaborate closely with our sales representatives, product management, financial, bid management and business strategy teams to ensure accurate solution positioning and feasible implementation planning. Success in this role directly contributes to revenue growth through improved deal conversion rates and expanded solution scope.

You will be involved in Business development processes to assess future prospects as well as involved throughout the bid management process in order to build and write functional and technical responses to private and public Transport & Mobility prospects.

Day-to-day responsibilities

 

  • Lead Technical Sales Activities: Conduct technical discovery sessions, requirements gathering, and solution scoping with prospective customers
  • Deliver Product Demonstrations: Present compelling technical demos tailored to specific prospect use cases and requirements
  • Design Custom Solutions: Create technical proposals, solution architectures, and implementation roadmaps for prospect environments
  • Support RFP Responses: Collaborate on technical sections of proposals, providing detailed technical specifications and implementation approaches
  • Provide Technical Consultation: Serve as trusted technical advisor, addressing complex technical questions and integration challenges
  • Competitive Positioning: Maintain deep knowledge of competitive landscape and effectively position solutions against alternatives
  • Sales Process Support: Participate in sales calls, customer meetings, and technical evaluations throughout the sales cycle
  • Cross-team Collaboration: Work with product and engineering teams to communicate customer requirements and influence product direction
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create technical content, case studies, and best practices to support broader sales efforts

Who are we looking for

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, solutions engineering, or customer-facing technical roles in the transport industry.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Experience with enterprise software solutions, system integrations, or technical product demonstrations
  • Understanding of common enterprise technology architectures, APIs, and integration patterns
  • Proven track record of supporting sales processes and achieving revenue targets
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% for customer meetings and industry events
  • Experience with CRM systems and sales process management

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or technical consulting roles
  • Industry certifications relevant to our technology stack or target markets
  • Experience with specific technologies in our product portfolio
  • Background in customer success or professional services roles
  • Technical writing experience and content creation skills
