Business Engineer

Who we are

Worldline helps businesses of all shapes and sizes to accelerate their growth journey - quickly, simply, and securely. We are the innovators at the heart of the payments technology industry, shaping how the world pays and gets paid. Our technology powers the growth of millions of businesses across 5 continents. And just as we help our customers accelerate their business, we are committed to helping our people accelerate their careers. Together, we shape the evolution.

The opportunity

Join our WLP FO expert development team within the Core Acquiring Tribe at Worldline, where you'll serve as a recognized domain expert for a specific area of the Worldline Pay Front Office authorization and switching systems. Working alongside fellow WLP FO experts and in close collaboration with the WLP FO Architects, this senior role combines deep technical C++ expertise with extensive business knowledge in financial authorization — requiring you to act as the go-to authority within your domain, a best-practices resource for the team, and a trusted bridge between business requirements and technical implementation.

Day-to-day responsibilities

  • Serve as the recognized expert within your specific WLP FO domain — guiding teams and stakeholders through complex technical and business challenges, and acting as the primary point of reference for your area of expertise internally and externally
  • Collaborate closely with the WLP FO Architects and fellow domain experts to ensure architectural coherence, standards alignment, and consistency of technical decisions across the broader WLP FO platform
  • Lead and own the development of C++ software solutions within your domain for real-time electronic payment processing and authorization, championing best practices and technical quality
  • Interpret complex business requirements within your domain and translate them into innovative, scalable technical solutions — proactively identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities, and escalating cross-domain implications to the WLP FO Architects where appropriate
  • Define and own technical solutions and requirements for new WLP FO functionality within your scope, recommending best practices and driving alignment across product management, software architecture, and key stakeholders
  • Champion the conceptual and technical integrity of payment authorization features within your domain, leading technical reviews and contributing to quality standards across the wider expert team
  • Guide and formally mentor junior and mid-level team members on complex technical and business challenges within your domain, serving as the best-practices and quality resource
  • Lead functional teams or projects within your WLP FO domain, coordinating cross-functional efforts and ensuring alignment with broader organizational objectives in collaboration with the WLP FO Architects

Who are we looking for

We look for big thinkers. People who can drive positive change, step up and show what's next – people with passion, can-do attitude and a hunger to learn and grow. In practice this means:

  • Recognized expertise in a specific WLP FO domain within payment authorization systems, with extensive experience in IT services and software development, advanced C++ programming skills, and deep knowledge of relational databases/SQL
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with architects and fellow domain experts,  contributing deep domain knowledge while maintaining awareness of cross-domain dependencies and architectural standards
  • Proven ability to guide others through complex technical challenges within your domain — serving as a best-practices authority and quality resource within and beyond the team
  • Strong business analysis capabilities with a track record of interpreting complex stakeholder requirements and translating them into innovative, scalable technical solutions
  • Demonstrated experience leading functional teams or projects in Agile environments, managing cross-functional stakeholder expectations in complex international settings
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and recommend solutions with broad organizational impact
  • Deep expertise in the electronic payments sector, specifically in acquiring or issuing authorization systems, is strongly preferred
  • Excellent English skills
