The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, you will lead the implementation and maintenance of the ISMS, conduct risk assessments, manage security incidents, and foster a strong security culture, collaborating effectively with local and global security and risk functions. Your efforts will ensure a robust security posture, safeguarding our business and customer data.
Day-to-day responsibilities
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead the development and execution of the security strategy for the Australian region and continuously improve the maturity of security through keeping abreast industry trends and incorporating good practices.
- Maintain a sound security culture through awareness programs, stakeholder engagement, and staff training on core security topics.
- Serve as a point of contact for security-related queries and prepare relevant reports for senior management, and the board as appropriate.
ISMS Governance & Risk Management
- Lead the implementation, adoption, and maintenance of our Information Security Management System (ISMS) across Australian entities, including localisation as appropriate.
- Conduct gap analyses to identify discrepancies between current practices and ISMS requirements, developing and implementing action plans to address them.
- Establish, review, and update local security policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure alignment with global ISMS policies and local regulatory expectations.
- Lead regular security risk assessments to identify, analyse, and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities; maintain a comprehensive risk register to track and prioritise mitigation efforts.
- Perform security assessments of third parties as required and ensure that appropriate mitigations are in place.
Security Operations & Incident Management
- Oversee security monitoring processes to effectively detect and respond to cyber threats.
- Serve as the escalation point for significant security incidents, coordinating response, containment, and root cause analysis efforts.
- Maintain and test incident response plans to ensure organisational preparedness for potential breaches.
- Collaborate with first line teams to implement and maintain security controls for critical systems, applications, and networks, ensuring robust access management.
- Evaluate and monitor the security posture of third-party vendors, performing regular security assessments to ensure compliance with our standards.
Regulatory Compliance & Assurance
- Ensure the organisation complies with relevant industry regulations and standards as they relate to information security (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI standards).
- Perform ongoing regulatory scanning to identify new or emerging security-related requirements, supporting relationships with regulatory bodies and any audits/inspections.
- Support necessary audits of the business as required by various industry bodies, such as Visa, Mastercard, AusPayNet, etc.
What we are looking for
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Information or Cyber Security roles, preferably with experience in a second-line capacity however, additional experience in a first-line capacity is also desirable.
- Mandatory experience with ISO 27001 and PCI standards implementation and management.
- Demonstrable in implementing industry standards such as NIST, ISF, and COBIT are highly desireable.
- Experience in the payments or a technology-driven organisation is highly desirable.
- Experience working within a matrix structure.
- Strong knowledge of security industry best practices, frameworks (e.g. PCI DSS, PCI PIN), and emerging threats.
- Experience with GRC tools (e.g., RSA Archer, ReadiNow) is expected.
- Experience with Risk Management tools (preferably RSA Archer).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office products (including PowerPoint and Excel) for analysis, reporting, and presentations.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CISM) are expected.
